Gianni is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and holds a Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University. Throughout his life he has studied classical, jazz, funk, rock, pop, folk and latin styles extensively. He has also studied traditional West African music, traveling to Burkina Faso to study with the Koné family, who are renowned griots in the Malinké tradition. As a performer Gianni has played some of the largest and most prestigious music festivals in the world including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Reggae on the River and most recently the Monterey Jazz Festival in 2013.
